A Volunteer Coach & Team Manager is required for all teams.

Actively participating in your child’s junior sports activities can be an extremely rewarding experience that every parent or carer should enjoy at some point. It’s an excellent opportunity to meet other parents, and there’s no better way to ensure that your child and their teammates are enjoying the magic of football together. Even if you have no direct experience with football or coaching, there are still other ways to play a part in ensuring a fun and successful season for everyone involved.

Team Managers

The Team Manager supports the coach by managing the necessary administrative tasks and communications with the team to allow the coach to focus on coaching the players. Activities may include:

  • Ensuring the coach and players have the required equipment on game days.
  • Ensuring that the team sheet and final scores are submitted into DRIBL app on game days.
  • Allocating jerseys to the players and assisting parents with information on how to purchase socks and shorts.
  • Keeping records of the weekly Player of the Match award recipient and MVP points and relaying to the Club Committee.
  • Acting as the chief point of contact between the Club Committee and the players/parents, including messages regarding scheduling changes, events, wet weather cancellations etc.
  • Above all else, ensure the welfare of all team members at training and competition.

Coaches

Our coaches play a crucial role in improving the skills of the players they train. They strive to create enjoyable and practical training sessions that will encourage young football players and help them develop a long-lasting passion for the sport. The ultimate goal is to keep them engaged in the game and help them improve their overall performance.

The Coach is responsible for:

  • Planning and designing training sessions.
  • Instructing players on how to correctly execute skills/drills.
  • Monitoring players and modify drills and activities to guide their development and enjoyment.
  • Rewarding and encourage players for effort and good execution of skills.
  • Encouraging players to make decisions for themselves.
  • Promoting improvement, enjoyment and a positive team culture and spirit over a ‘winning at all costs’ mentality.
  • Ensuring that players get the opportunity to play in different positions.
  • Following a Game-Intervention-Game (GIG) coaching philosophy.

St. Bernadette’s Football Club are proud participants in the Western Sydney Wanderers Cooperative Program. This program assists our coaches as the drills are set up and weekly training programs are provided by Western Sydney Wanderers community coaches. Videos are uploaded and made available to all coaches to review before each training session so they understand the drills and have the knowledge and confidence to monitor each player’s execution and intervene where necessary to assist their development.
